Conditions · Pinched nerve
A pinched nerve in the neck or back.
Sharp, electric or burning pain that follows a line into an arm or leg, often with numbness or weakness. Something is pressing on the nerve, and the first step is finding out what.
What it can feel like
Pain that follows a path rather than staying in one spot. Pins and needles. A hand or foot that feels weaker or clumsier than the other side.
How Dr. Lee assesses it
Nerve testing to find where the problem is, then a look at your MRI or X-rays to see what is pressing on the nerve.
Where non-surgical decompression fits
Nerve pressure from a disc, or from narrowing in the spine, when the evaluation points to it.
★★★★★
“I no longer feel surgery is in the future for me.”
I had been released from my physical therapist who said they did all they could. My pain doctor said I maxed out on my epidurals. I was still experiencing discomfort as well as intense and consistent numbness and tingling. From my first appointment the numbness and tingling subsided.

Questions
Questions about a pinched nerve
What is a pinched nerve?
A nerve that is being pressed on by something around it, most often a disc, a bone spur or narrowing in the spine. In the neck it is felt in the arm; in the low back it is felt in the leg.
Is a pinched nerve the same as sciatica?
Can a pinched nerve cause weakness?
Yes. Pressure on a nerve can weaken the muscles it controls: a grip that feels weaker, or a foot that catches when you walk. Weakness that is new or getting worse should be checked soon.
Will a pinched nerve go away on its own?
Some settle within weeks. If the pain, numbness or tingling lasts or keeps coming back, whatever is pressing on the nerve is likely still there.
