If you have back or disc pain and want to avoid surgery and long-term medication, non-surgical spinal decompression may be an option. Here is who it is for and how it works at Prime Spine Wellness, from your first visit through your program.

Who is it for?

Dr. Lee uses non-surgical decompression for back and neck pain that comes from the disc, including:

It is usually considered when the pain has lasted months, or keeps coming back after rest, therapy, medication or injections.

Why people choose it

It works on the disc itself, not only the pain signal. There is no surgery, no anesthesia and no recovery time off your feet. It does not rely on medication, so there are no drug side effects to manage.

It starts with an evaluation

Before any care begins, Dr. Lee examines you herself. She goes over your history, checks how your muscles and nerves are working, and reviews your MRI or X-rays with you. If you do not have imaging yet, come in anyway; she refers you if you need it. She also screens for the conditions that rule non-surgical decompression out. See what happens at your evaluation.

What happens on the table?

You lie on a padded table, fully clothed. The table is set up for your low back or your neck. A computer controls a gentle pull on one area of your spine and eases it on and off in slow cycles. There is no twisting and no cracking. Most people describe it as a slow, gentle stretch. If anything feels like too much, tell the team and they adjust it.

What else might be part of your care?

Depending on what she finds, Dr. Lee may add laser therapy, the NeuroMed Matrix, soft tissue work and adjustments. Each part is there for a reason she can explain.

What happens after a session?

You can drive yourself home and go back to your day. Most people keep working during their program, and the office plans visits around your schedule.

How is progress checked?

Dr. Lee re-examines you at set points along the way and adjusts the plan as you improve. The goal is less pain and getting back to the things the pain has kept you from. Read more about non-surgical spinal decompression.
